Delays in Construction of Waste Processing Plant in Lviv

The Lviv City Council has initiated international arbitration due to delays by a Polish contractor in the construction of a waste processing plant.

“The city has appealed to international arbitration and initiated a series of legal actions to protect the interests of the community,” said Oleksandr Yehorov, director of LCP ‘Green City.’ The city does not recognize the arbitration initiated by the Polish company Control Process and has filed a counterclaim with the International Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

A fire at the construction site destroyed equipment worth 4 million UAH. The city authorities have contacted the police regarding the criminal offense and have also recorded attempts to change equipment suppliers without approval.

“We are observing signs of prohibited practices,” Yehorov noted. The contractor has suspended work, violating the contract, and is attempting to exert pressure through new proceedings of the Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB).

From December 4, penalty sanctions against the contractor will come into effect. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the situation: “The main thing is not to succumb to any provocations.”
