In Lviv, the program “The City Heals” continues to support military personnel, veterans, and their families in psychological rehabilitation. According to city-adm.lviv.ua, since the beginning of 2023, nearly 200 people have used this initiative, and since its launch, more than 3,000 participants have been involved.
This city program, launched in 2023, is aimed at the socio-cultural recovery of defenders. It is implemented by the Lviv Tourist Office together with a number of partners and medical institutions. The program includes free city tours, tickets to museums, theaters, cinemas, and concerts.
As part of the project, military personnel and veterans participated in tours about Ukrainian Christmas traditions, visited exhibitions, took horseback rides, and attended concerts, including performances by the choral chapel “Dudaryk” and the INSO-Lviv orchestra. Touring the city sometimes culminates in the office of the Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the author of the program.
The program partners include numerous institutions, including the Lviv National Opera and other cultural establishments. Program participants can contact the tourist office to organize events.
Victoria Khemich from the UNBROKEN center notes that socio-cultural rehabilitation is an important part of returning to normal life for the military. Rehabilitation process manager Serhiy Titarenko adds that participation in such events promotes the harmonization of relations between the veteran community and civil society.
The tourism department works with nine medical institutions to ensure effective organization of events under the “The City Heals” program.
