Hydrological Situation on the Rivers of Lviv Region: Overview

As of November 23, 2025, the hydrological situation on the rivers of the Lviv region is characterized by slight changes in water levels.

According to the hydrometeorological network, between 4 and 16 mm of precipitation fell in the Lviv region within 24 hours. Most of the rivers in the region saw minor water level increases of 1-12 cm, while on others the water levels decreased by up to 6 cm. On some mountain tributaries of the Dniester, primary ice phenomena like slush and frazil were observed.

The water temperature on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester ranged from 0.0 to 1.8°, while on the rest of the region’s rivers, it ranged from 2.1 to 7.0°. The snow cover height across the region increased and ranged from 8 to 20 cm, with 19 cm in Lviv. On meteorological sites in the mountainous areas, snow height reached 28 cm in Turka and 11 cm in Slavske.

The next day, slight fluctuations in water levels are expected on the region’s rivers. A decrease is forecasted for the rivers of the Dniester basin, while a rise is expected for the plains rivers of the San and Western Bug basins. Due to a sharp drop in air temperature, the appearance of primary ice phenomena such as ice crusts and slush will be noted on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester.
