An ordinary Lviv tram has been transformed into an extraordinary art project in honour of World Public Transport Day. The tram hosts an exhibition titled “Transport that Inspires”, organised by LCP “Lvivelectrotrans” in collaboration with students from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. This has allowed the conversion of the usual tram interior into a mobile art space.
The creators have displayed over 30 photominiatures in the “Electron” tram, which runs on route No. 8 (Soborna Square — Vernadsky Street). Among the works are original reflections on the rhythm of the city by contemporary young artists.
The installation includes historical photos and unique facts about the Lviv tram, which began its existence back in 1880. This exhibit serves as a close link between the past and the present, demonstrating the humanity of modern technologies.
Other works highlight the lifespan of trams, which typically “live” for 30-40 years, transporting 20 million passengers during this time. Margarita Birko reminds us that today trolleybuses, buses, and trams provide equal opportunities for residents.
With all technical conditions considered, including the smooth movement of the carriage and its inclusivity, spectators can enjoy this art project until 27th April. The carriage is equipped with video surveillance to ensure careful regard for the exhibition.
