Photo exhibition “Her Voice. Her Story. Her Strength. Free to Be” presented in Lviv

A photo exhibition entitled “Her Voice. Her Story. Her Strength. Free to Be” has opened in Lviv, dedicated to the stories of 13 Ukrainian women who have lived through war, domestic violence and other severe life crises. The exhibition shows their path towards recovery, finding inner resilience and a new start in life.

The opening was attended by the adviser to the Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration and Head of the Coordination Centre for Civilian Support, Halyna Bordun, representatives of the Department for Internally Displaced Persons of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Lviv Regional State Administration, as well as civil society organisations and international partners.

During the event, it was emphasised that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the requests of women forced to flee their homes have changed: whereas previously their primary need was humanitarian aid, now the demand for psychological and psychosocial support is growing. Therefore, the creation of safe spaces where women can receive support and communicate with others is becoming particularly important.

These are places where women can receive support, feel safe, find like-minded people, gain new knowledge and not be left alone with their challenges. It is precisely such initiatives that help strengthen communities, open up new opportunities for development and are extremely necessary, the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Lviv Regional State Administration notes.

The organisers stress that the exhibition goes beyond a purely artistic project. It is a space of candid testimonies about strength, resilience and recovery, which demonstrates that even after the most difficult trials it is possible to find support, regain self-belief and take a step towards a new life.

Visitors can see the exhibition “Her Voice. Her Story. Her Strength. Free to Be” in the women- and girl-friendly space “Vilna” at: Lviv, 4 Vesniana Street.
