The Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung has joined the UNBROKEN Cities international network, which supports rehabilitation development in Ukraine. The cooperation agreement was signed by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai.
Kaohsiung is now the tenth city to join this initiative. Taiwan’s active support for Ukraine opens new opportunities for experience sharing and collaboration.
Kaohsiung’s Support and Technological Innovations
Kaohsiung is a leader in technology, especially in the production of advanced semiconductors integrated into various aspects of urban life. For instance, local hospitals use a laser scanning and artificial intelligence system to instantly detect patient falls and alert medical staff. Such innovations could greatly benefit Ukraine’s modern healthcare development.
Honoring a Volunteer
Kaohsiung is home to the family of Wu Chun-Te, a volunteer in the International Legion who died in November near Chasiv Yar defending Ukraine. His name will remain forever in memory.
Assistance for the UNBROKEN Center
Taiwan has allocated $5 million for constructing a new building for the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center in Lviv. Kaohsiung will also provide additional medical equipment and supplies.
UNBROKEN Cities Network
UNBROKEN Cities unites global cities to advance rehabilitation programs in Ukraine. Manchester, Liverpool, and Lviv were the founding cities. Today, the network includes:
- Würzburg (Germany),
- Aarhus (Denmark),
- Trento (Italy),
- Cannes (France),
- Oslo (Norway),
- Rzeszów (Poland),
- Kaohsiung (Taiwan).
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed gratitude to Taiwan for its friendship, support, and cooperation.
