Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Ukrainian citizen was served a notice of suspicion of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the lawyer had been spreading anti-Ukrainian propaganda information on the Internet for several years.
For this purpose, the suspect, having formed the image of a lawyer and an expert in “political affairs”, participated in programmes on Russian and pro-Russian media. In her numerous interviews, she disseminated manipulative materials with an exclusively negative view of Ukraine.
In particular, in her stories, the woman claimed that Ukraine was under foreign control and that the Maidan was aimed at the collapse of the country. She also claimed that law enforcement officers were allegedly acting arbitrarily.
The woman also pointed to the presence of neo-Nazis and fascists in power in Ukraine and the existence of Nazi paramilitary groups.
In her interviews, she repeatedly showed contempt for the state, its nation and language, paying special attention to the fact that the Ukrainian language was artificially invented and that most Ukrainians do not understand the Galician accent at all. It also broadcasted the belief that Ukraine was a “stillborn child who was passed off as alive”, a “country of 404” and was a Russian territory.
All this provided Russia with ideological assistance in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
At the request of the prosecutor, the suspect was chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
