It was established that a 25-year-old resident of Lviv was engaged in the distribution of psychotropic substances, receiving so-called “treasures” with prohibited substances, which she then packaged and “bookmarked”.
The offender was exposed by operatives of the Drug Crimes Department in Lviv region jointly with investigators of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department (detectives) of the Lviv Police Investigation Department, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
On 24 September, law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During authorised searches at her place of residence, law enforcement officers found and seized packaged “bookmarks”, ziplock bags and plastic bags with substances similar to amphetamine and PVP, packaging equipment, electronic scales, draft records and other material evidence. All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
In addition, several facts of the sale of the psychotropic substance PVP by the offender were documented. She was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 3 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under the article is imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
