Resident of Drohobych region to be tried for buying 800 litres of counterfeit alcohol to sell
Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment against a 54-year-old resident of Drohobych district was sent to court on the facts of illegal purchase and storage with intent to sell illegally manufactured excisable goods (Part 1 Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the accused illegally purchased 5 polymeric barrels of ethyl alcohol. Subsequently, he partially packed them in smaller containers and applied labels with the name of one of the vodka brands. He stored the alcohol at home and intended to sell it later.
The man did not have the statutory permit and licence to sell excisable goods.
During searches in the accused’s house, law enforcement officers found the above-mentioned counterfeit. In particular, almost 800 litres of ethyl alcohol. The value of the seized goods is over UAH 64,000.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by detectives of the BES in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
