12 Eco-Fires Occur in Lviv Region in One Day

In the Lviv region, rescuers extinguished twelve fires over the previous day on ecosystems covering a total area of more than two hectares. This included eight dry grass ignitions and four peat fires. Efforts to extinguish the peat fire are still ongoing in the village of Sytikhiv, Lviv district.

Peat fires are particularly dangerous as they can smoulder for several days, spreading underground over considerable areas. It is reported that rescuers are appealing to the public, urging them not to burn dry vegetation and to adhere to fire safety rules.

Such ignitions not only harm the environment but also pose a threat to human life and lead to the destruction of natural resources. Fines for violations related to burning dry grass range from 3,060 to 6,120 hryvnias for citizens and from 15,300 to 21,420 hryvnias for officials.
