Due to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the regional prosecutor’s office, the Lviv Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged. By decision, the last 50-year-old resident of Truskavets was found guilty of premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months of imprisonment.
Prosecutors proved in court that last June in Truskavets, the convict met a 31-year-old man at one of the local gas stations. At the invitation of the accused, the men went to visit him to drink alcoholic beverages.
While in the garage, in a state of alcohol intoxication, a conflict arose between the men, during which the convict took a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. The latter died from his injuries.
Wanting to hide the crime, the suspect used his car to transport the corpse to the local cemetery, where he left it on the side of a forest road.
The court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and dismissed the defense’s appeal.
