Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, indictments were sent to the court against two state inspectors of the Yavoriv customs post of Lviv Customs on the facts of abuse of office and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, officials allowed loaded trucks into the customs territory of Ukraine, registering them as empty.
The accused entered unreliable information about the absence of cargo into the automated system of customs clearance “Inspector” and attached previously prepared photos of other empty vehicles.
This provided an opportunity to import goods without payment.
It was recorded that the employees thus missed trucks with goods for a total amount of over 4.7 million hryvnias.
As a result, mandatory customs payments for a total of about 1.5 million hryvnias were not paid to the state.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Territorial Administration of the State Criminal Investigation Department in the city of Lviv, with the assistance of employees of the Internal Security Department of the Lviv Customs.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
