It has been established that three residents of Lviv district aged 38, 40 and 41 organised the supply and distribution of methadone in Lviv region.
Their monthly profit was about UAH 300 thousand.
The criminals were exposed by operatives of the Drug Crime Department jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, officers of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police, under the procedural supervision of the Zhovkva Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The detentions were carried out with the support of the Special Forces of the Lviv Police.
Law enforcement officers documented the facts of drug sales, and during authorised searches at the residences and cars used by the drug dealers, they found and seized: packages with substances similar to methadone and cannabis, draft records, funds received from illegal activities and other material evidence.
All seized items were sent to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for examination.
The offenders were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, they were served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) and a measure of restraint was chosen.
The maximum penalty provided for by the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.
