It was established that the detainee was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. For what he committed, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, on July 17, around 8:00 p.m., in the village of Buda, Lviv district, the 51-year-old driver of a Ford car lost control – the vehicle left the roadway on the side of the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, the driver was injured and taken to the hospital. His passenger, a 48-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district, died of his injuries at the scene.
It was also established that the driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The police detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the fact, the investigators of the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv Oblast police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to eight years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
