In Lviv, rescuers reach injured pensioner via balcony

In the evening of 3 July in Lviv, rescuers assisted an 84-year-old woman who had been injured in her flat on Volodymyr Velykyi Street and was unable to open the door by herself.

The Rescue Service received a report that cries for help were coming from a flat on the third floor of a five-storey residential building, but the owner was not opening the door. To gain access to the property, rescuers used an extension ladder to climb up to the balcony and enabled police officers to enter the flat.

In a room, they found the flat owner, an 84-year-old Lviv resident, lying on the floor but conscious. According to preliminary information, the woman had suddenly fallen ill, collapsed and was unable to get up or reach the front door unaided.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene examined the casualty, provided first aid and determined that, due to the injury sustained, she required hospitalisation. Rescuers carefully carried the woman on a medical stretcher from the flat to the emergency medical service vehicle.

The casualty was taken to a medical facility with a preliminary diagnosis of a broken arm.
