A 40-year-old Lviv resident who drove a Tesla Cybertruck despite a court ban is accused of systematically failing to comply with court rulings. Prosecutors from the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office have sent the indictment to court.
According to the investigation, the man repeatedly got behind the wheel without a driving licence, fled from patrol officers and drove under the influence of narcotic substances. He had previously been repeatedly held administratively liable for driving-related offences: he was fined and disqualified from driving vehicles.
The most recent penalty imposed by the court was a fine of 40,800 UAH and a five-year disqualification from driving all types of vehicles. Despite this, according to the prosecution, the Lviv resident continued to deliberately ignore the bans and get behind the wheel.
In view of such systematic disregard for the law, criminal proceedings were opened against him. The man is charged with deliberate failure to comply with a court ruling that has entered into legal force, under Part 1 of Article 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
