In the early hours of 8 June in the centre of Sheptytskyi, three underage local residents robbed a 30-year-old man. This was reported under the procedural supervision of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the teenagers stopped a passer-by in the street and started a verbal altercation. During the row, one of them, a 17-year-old boy, struck the man in the face several times and grabbed him by the neck. While the victim, taken by surprise, was unable to resist, the other two, aged 15 and 16, took his bag.
The bag contained a phone, 700 hryvnias and other personal belongings. According to preliminary estimates, the material damage caused to the victim exceeds 10,000 hryvnias. After the attack, the man recovered and called the police. Law enforcement officers identified those involved in the incident; they turned out to be local residents.
It is noted that one of the minors had previously been repeatedly held administratively liable for public order offences, and the oldest of the group for driving a vehicle without a driving licence. In addition, he has a previous conviction for robbery.
All three teenagers have been notified of suspicion of robbery committed by a group of persons acting in prior collusion (Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
