According to the public accusation of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court found four Ukrainian citizens guilty. They were convicted of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed formations not provided for by law (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced each of them to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Prosecutors proved in court that three residents of Donetsk region and a resident of Luhansk region voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy in April-September 2022 and joined the illegal armed formations of the “People’s Militia” of the terrorist organizations “DNR” and “LNR”.
The accused performed the duties of gunner operators, gunners and machine gunners.
As part of various units, they took direct part in battles against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They also ensured the security of the locations of the Russian army and terrorist organizations in the settlements of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted in absentia by investigators of the SBU Office in Lviv Region.
