Lviv residents have brought over 35 tonnes of bulky waste to the site on Zhovkivska Street

In Lviv, residents are actively using the site for receiving bulky waste at 18 Zhovkivska Street. In the first six months of this year, more than 35 tonnes of old furniture, renovation waste and faulty household appliances were brought here, LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans” reported.

According to the company, since the beginning of the year the site has received 10,408 kg of renovation waste, 20,924 kg of bulky waste (mainly furniture) and 4,160 kg of household appliances.

Lvivspetskomuntrans reminds residents that bulky waste includes items larger than 50×50×50 cm which cannot be loaded into standard containers or refuse collection vehicles. This includes, in particular, furniture, doors and other large household items. Renovation waste — bricks, tiles, concrete — and household appliances such as fridges, washing machines and televisions are collected and removed separately.

“If such waste ends up in a standard refuse collection vehicle, the lorry can break down and be taken off its route, which then causes delays in waste collection from other sites. We thank everyone who does not leave such waste by container sites and instead brings it to us at 18 Zhovkivska Street, thereby helping to keep the city clean,” explain LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans”.

The site at 18 Zhovkivska Street is open from Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 16:30, and on Friday until 15:30. The lunch break is from 12:15 to 13:00.

The reception point accepts old furniture, renovation waste, household appliances and other bulky items that cannot be left at container sites or thrown into mixed-waste containers. Residents of the Lviv City Territorial Community and visitors to the city can use this service. To draw up a contract-invoice, you must present an identity document.

The reception fee is: UAH 2.95 per 1 kg of old furniture, UAH 1.40 per 1 kg of construction (renovation) waste and UAH 1.99 per 1 kg of household appliances.

The site does not accept car tyres, fluorescent lamps and other hazardous waste, nor polystyrene, old uPVC windows or doors, or clothing.
