During the meeting, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi agreed with plastic surgeon from the USA Steven Orten. The American visited Lviv for the first time at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. After that, he returned home to Dallas and gathered several dozen American doctors who want to come to Lviv and help in treatment.
In particular, American reconstructors, plastic surgeons and military doctors should come to the First Medical Association. The first visits are planned for March 2023.
“When I first visited Lviv, I fell in love with your city and your people. I was impressed by the professionalism of your doctors from the First TMO. Today is my third time in Lviv. I want my colleagues to experience the same. We plan to come with the team in the spring and help our Ukrainian colleagues as much as possible in rescuing people,” said Steven Orten.
Instead, the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, presented the NEZLAMNI rehabilitation ecosystem to the doctor, which is being developed on the basis of the First TMO.
“We are building a rehabilitation center of this scale in Ukraine for the first time. Therefore, we need help in everything: in ideas, technologies, in training, in the exchange of experience. Therefore, your visits and the intentions of your colleagues are very valuable not only for our city, but also for the whole of Ukraine. After all, our hospitals have patients from different parts of the country,” said Andriy Sadovy.
During the full-scale invasion of the NEZLAMNI center in Lviv, more than 7,000 wounded Ukrainians received help. These are military and civilians, adults and children.
The UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv is a unique place where adults and children who have suffered from the war receive comprehensive qualified medical care. This is reconstructive surgery, orthopedics and robotic prosthetics. Victims are not only fitted with prostheses – they are made here. The center deals with physical, psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation of injured soldiers and civilians.
The project is implemented by the First Medical Association of Lviv and the Lviv City Council, with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
