Maksym Kozytskyi visited the locomotive repair depot of the Karpaty enterprise

Even in the conditions of a full-scale war, the plant expands its activities.

Today, June 27, the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi visited the research and mechanical plant “Karpaty”. The enterprise is engaged in the production of freight cars, repair of rolling stock, production of tank containers, tanks, metal structures and press compactors. As of today, there are 24 buildings operating on the territory of the plant, where approximately 650 people work.

The company continues to master new types of products even in the conditions of a full-scale war. In 2022, the Karpaty plant became a participant in the business support program in the Lviv region during the period of martial law. And since the beginning of 2023, it has produced almost 300 freight cars of various types. In particular, he successfully designed, tested and put into mass production three innovative models – a semi-trailer with 14 hatches, a semi-trailer with a hollow bottom and a hopper-cement truck.

Adapting to modern challenges, the enterprise from the Lviv region finds ways to solve the key problems of the industry. Production of new freight cars in Ukraine has stopped due to the shutdown of the production of the metallurgical companies “Azovstal” and “Azovmash”. With this in mind, “Karpaty” has developed five models of wagons, which are produced with a welded backbone beam.

Another problem that arose due to Russia’s military actions against Ukraine is the blocking of Black Sea ports. Therefore, the plant in the Lviv region began serial production of containers for transporting bulk materials on factory-made platforms that meet the requirements for traffic on European tracks.

In July 2022, the company bought the asset of the “Sirka” DHCP, to which a locomotive depot was attached. In 8 months, “Karpaty” repaired and reconstructed the site, purchased the necessary equipment for repair and became one of the few factories that has a certified wheel and cart shop with the possibility of repairing any wheel pairs for diesel locomotives. As a result, the company created 60 new jobs.

During the working visit, the head of the Lviv Oblast, Maksym Kozytsky, familiarized himself with the work of the new production workshop, talked with the managers of “Karpat” and inspected the plant’s new products.
