The beauty of the mountains is captivating, but they can also become a real challenge for travelers. This was the case for two women who embarked on a winter hike to Mount Parashka in the Stryi district.
The hikers prepared in advance and registered their route with mountain rescuers—a decision that turned out to be crucial for their safety. The first day of the hike went smoothly as the women successfully reached a mountain shelter where they spent the night, planning to continue their journey in the morning.
However, the next day brought unexpected difficulties: heavy overnight snowfall drastically altered the landscape and obscured familiar landmarks. Together with their two dogs, the hikers tried to find their way but eventually realized they couldn’t manage on their own. In this critical moment, they contacted the mountain rescue service.
Thanks to their prior registration, the rescuers already knew the planned route and were able to quickly locate the hikers. The rescue team guided the women and their dogs safely to the base of the mountain, ensuring their wellbeing until the end of the hike.
This story once again highlights that registering with mountain rescuers is not just a formality—it’s a vital measure that can save lives in emergency situations.
