Today, July 27, marks the 22nd anniversary of the plane crash at the Sknyliv military airport. The memory of the victims was honored with a joint prayer in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC at 319a Horodotska Street.
“It has been 22 years since the Sknyliv plane crash. A terrible tragedy claimed the lives of 77 people. RIP,” Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi wrote on his Facebook page.
A memorial service will also be held tomorrow, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Holoskiv Cemetery.
By the way, the city financially supports people who suffered or lost their relatives in the plane crash.

The Sknyliv tragedy was an accident that occurred during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the 14th Aviation Corps of the Ukrainian Air Force at the Sknyliv airport near Lviv on July 27, 2002. A Su-27UB fighter jet crashed into a crowd of spectators, killing 77 people, including 28 children. About 250 people were injured. By the number of deaths, this event is considered the largest disaster in the history of aviation holidays.
