On October 1, Belz marked its City Day with the solemn blessing of a monument to Taras Shevchenko. It was a day of unity, gratitude, and pride for our people, our homeland, and the heroic deeds of those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
During the ceremonies, the city mayor, Oksana Bereza, presented letters of gratitude from the Belz municipal community to those who contributed to the establishment of the monument. “Their support was the guarantor that the majestic figure of the Kobzar has arisen in the heart of Belz,” – noted Oksana Bereza.
Those honored with gratitude included: Myron Bohdanovych Vityk, Myroslav Hryhorovych Prots, Bohdan Lyubomirovych Voitovych, Ivan Mykhailovych Puzich, Mykhailo Yaroslavovych Kosivskyi, Bohdan Mykhailovych Kisilevych, Vasyl Mykhailovych Kisilevych, Ihor Henadiiovych Zablotskyi, Yurii Dmytrovych Klepak, Roman Petrovych Kulyk, Serhii Vasylovych Berehivskyi, Bohdan Lishchota, Yaroslav Mykhailiush.
A large festive concert took place for the residents and guests of the community. Performers from the Belz School of Arts, People’s Houses of the community, children’s and amateur groups took the stage. Songs, poetry by Taras Shevchenko, choreographic performances, and heartfelt words once again demonstrated: the legacy of the Kobzar lives on and inspires each of us.
As part of the celebration, librarians, cultural workers, and educators of the community — people who daily preserve Ukrainian words, traditions, and nurture love for Ukraine in the younger generation — were also honored. This day became a true holiday for the Belz community, bringing together residents and guests in honoring Taras Shevchenko, commemorating cultural heritage, heroes of our time, and those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom. The monument to the Kobzar will forever remain a symbol of our unity and love for our native land.
