This is important for Odesa, as Lviv’s buses will remain in the city for an additional month until the end of June to support passenger transport. This decision was made by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council on 22 May.
The extension of the operation of ten buses, which the Lviv community provided at the beginning of January, has been sanctioned. Instead of the initially planned five months, Lviv’s buses will stay in Odesa for a total of six months.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure of the LCC, Dmytro Petsii, explained that due to the shelling of the energy infrastructure, the city has not yet fully restored its electric transport services. Therefore, the need for buses, which provide about 40% of transportation, remains.
The buses were provided to support Odesa’s transport system as part of inter-municipal solidarity under martial law. The Lviv City Council hopes for the swift restoration of electric transport in Odesa so that the buses can return to Lviv, where they are also used for social transport.
