To ensure unhindered passage of trams, delineators will be installed at the corner of Ruska-Pidvalna streets. This decision was approved by the city commission for road safety.
As explained by the Lviv City Council’s Street Infrastructure Department, there is a parking area at this location with 8 parking spaces. However, drivers often park more cars chaotically nearby, which leads to blocking tram traffic. To prevent this, plastic bollards will be installed in front of and behind the car park.
“Last year, more than 40 cases of cars blocking tram traffic were recorded on Pidvalna Street, with a total duration of about 20 hours. One of the most problematic places is the turn from Ruska Street to Pidvalna Street. There, due to the overhang of the tram body at the turn, more space is required, and drivers often do not leave space for electric vehicles to move.
To resolve this situation, according to the commission’s decision, Lvivavtodor will install plastic bollards there,” said Pavlo Sirvatka, head of the Lviv City Council’s street infrastructure department.
According to Lvavtodor, 17 bollards are planned to be installed on this section.
The work will be carried out after the police approve the relevant traffic management scheme.
Lviv City Council urges drivers not to park their cars in violation of traffic rules, in particular, under the “no stopping” or “no parking” signs, at intersections and pedestrian crossings. Chaotic parking impedes traffic and, under martial law, the passage of special vehicles that support the city’s vital functions and help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
