Communication problems that occur during power outages partially affect the operation of the e-ticket system. Some functions of the system may be slightly slower.
However, validation/payment of fares is carried out as usual.
This was reported by Lvivavtodor.
The utility explains that information is exchanged between validators in transport and the central server via APN channels of mobile operators. And the lack of power supply affects the speed of information transfer in the e-ticket system. As a result, the functions of displaying ticket information on the validator in public transport may be delayed, and there may be delays in unlocking the LeoCard after replenishing the negative balance of the card.
“We remind you that when the balance is negative, the system blocks the LeoCard, which is why the validator rejects it. After the card is replenished, it is unlocked automatically, approximately within 10 minutes. However, in the event of a connection interruption, the receipt of card unlocking data may be delayed. Therefore, it is important for passengers to monitor the balance of their transport LeoCard and top up it in advance – at least a few hours before the planned trip. And to avoid situations with blocking, we recommend keeping a positive card balance.
There may also be a slightly slower response of the menu on the validator when checking ticket information and displaying information,” Lvivavtodor reported.
As a reminder, you can check the current amount on your transport card through EasyPay services, a validator in transport, and Interpress branded kiosks. Step-by-step instructions on how to check your card balance can be found here.
By the way, in Lviv, 65% of passengers of city public transport validate their trips with LeoCards – general, student, pupil and privileged cards. In total, 390,000 LeoCards have been issued and purchased by residents so far.
