In Lviv, a unified standard is being developed for the installation of parcel lockers, ATMs, and other machines on municipal land. This concerns parcel lockers, ATMs, payment terminals, parking meters, water dispensers, as well as machines for selling flowers or other goods. The aim is to organise the appearance, location, and accessibility of these machines.
The city council has already held several meetings with entrepreneurs to familiarise them with the new initiative and consider their wishes. Roman Krushelnytskyi, head of the architecture department of the Lviv City Council, noted that the machines will be standardised and made as accessible as possible for people with limited mobility. It is important that they do not obstruct pedestrian movement, particularly for people with disabilities.
The organisation concerns only those objects located on the city’s municipal land, of which there are about 2,000 in the community. Changes will not affect those placed in buildings. The city aims to find a balance between permitting installation and minimising impact on the historical environment.
During meetings with business representatives, including the commercial director of the “Epicentre” retail network, Volodymyr Kurskyi, proposals and comments regarding already installed parcel lockers were discussed. Entrepreneurs are willing to agree to the proposed changes but emphasise the need to finalise certain aspects.
Director of the Economic Development Department of the Lviv City Council, Inna Svystun, explained that by organising the installation of parcel lockers, additional funds will be attracted to the city’s budget. After finalising with entrepreneurs, the unified standard for machines is to be approved at the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.
