In Lviv, a new trolleybus route No. 38, connecting Kropyvnytskyi Square and Khutorivka Street, has been put into operation. It became the 10th in the city and connects three districts – Sykhivskyi, Frankivskyi and Zaliznychnyi

Trolleybuses #38 run as follows: pl. Kropyvnytskyi – “Skrynia” shopping center – str. Kulparkivska – str. Volodymyr Veliky – str. Rubchaka – str. Stryyska – st. Khutorivka” and in the opposite direction.

As Oleh Zabarilo, director of the department of urban mobility and street infrastructure of the LMR, said, this route is provided for in the city transport network.

“Previously, bus route No. 38 ran on this connection. And in order to ensure high-quality connections between Sykhov and the Kropyvnytskyi Square area, we opened a new trolley bus route. For this purpose, a contact network and additional platforms were set up. In particular, within the framework of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, we carried out the reconstruction of the trolleybus network on the street. Kulparkivska – on the stretch from Horodotska Street to Naukova Street. A double suspended high-speed system was installed here, which is the first system of its kind in Lviv. It enables trolleybuses to travel faster and safer on this section. In general, 8.6 km of trolleybus network and 3.4 km of cable lines were installed here. The old supports were replaced with new galvanized supports with LED lighting,” Oleg Zabarylo said.

As noted by acting Head of the Frankiv District Administration Ihor Savka, 4 new bus stops were built on the street. Kulparkivska. “In addition to the platforms, additional pedestrian crossings were installed here, sidewalks were lowered and tactile tiles were installed,” Ihor Savka said.

Acting Volodymyr Kovaliv, head of Lviv Electrotrans LLP, said that the trolleybus infrastructure was installed on the street. Kulparkivska will be an alternative, if necessary, for the routes that run along Antonovych and Heroiv UPA streets.

“Route No. 38 is good in terms of an alternative line. After all, when the streets of Antonovych and Heroiv UPA are reconstructed, we will be able to preserve trolleybus traffic, because we will be able to bypass these sections. This is a very good and timely direction,” concluded Volodymyr Kovaliv.

In general, the length of route No. 38 is 18.5 km. The line operates eight cars on weekdays and seven on weekends. Movement interval – 10-11 minutes. The trolleybuses left for the first flight on this route today at 6:30 a.m. The last flights are at 9:30 p.m. from St. Khutorivka and at 10 p.m. – from Kropyvnytskyi Square.

The head of the transport department of LMR Orest Oleskiv noted that in the future route No. 38 is planned to be extended – along Chervonaya Kalyna Ave. to Vernadskyi Street.

“We are developing such a project. It is clear that now, in wartime conditions, we cannot implement it. But we are working on the concept of trolleybus network development,” said Orest Oleskiv.
