World medical legend Henry Marsh met with Lviv doctors

Henry Marsh, a famous British neurosurgeon, medical legend and author of a world bestseller about life, death and neurosurgery, visited the First Medical Association of Lviv.

He met with Lviv doctors, interns and medical students and gave them a lecture on the importance of teamwork in medicine.

The renowned neurosurgeon is convinced that effective communication between healthcare professionals and their colleagues and patients is the key to successful work.

“It is very important not to hide your mistakes, but rather to discuss them with your colleagues. Teamwork makes the decisions we make better. After all, my mistakes are best seen from the outside – through the eyes of my colleagues. At the same time, their mistakes are also better seen from the outside – through my eyes. I am here to explain this to both young and experienced professionals,” Henry Marsh said in his lecture.

During the meeting, the doctors had the opportunity to ask the guest their questions and take a photo together. He also signed his books, which have long been translated into Ukrainian and are popular in our country. After all, they are not only about neurosurgery and Henry Marsh’s medical experience in the UK, but also in Ukraine.

By the way, Henry Marsh first came to Ukraine back in 1992. Since then, he has made about 30 visits to Ukrainian medical institutions and has consulted and operated on hundreds of neurosurgical patients. Mostly children. In particular, this is the seventh time he has come to St Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv. The last time he was here was five years ago. Now, he says, he is most impressed by the rapid development of the hospital.

In 2007, a documentary film, The English Surgeon, was released about the outstanding neurosurgeon’s connection to Ukraine and his local patients, and it won many awards at European and American film festivals.
