The Lviv region and the Czech Republic are joining forces to create the first ‘Recovery house’ in Ukraine and implement the ‘child’s route’.
Deputy Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Khrystyna Zamula held a meeting with representatives of the Czech organizations ‘SANAe’ and ‘BONA’ fund. The parties discussed reforms in the field of mental health, exchanged experiences on the deinstitutionalization of boarding institutions, and identified new areas of cooperation. ‘We inherited an outdated model from the Soviet system – closed institutions isolated from communities. This approach does not align with modern notions of dignity and a person’s right to independence. Currently, there are six supported living departments operating in the Lviv region, proving that people receiving appropriate social adaptation can live fully in society’, stated Khrystyna Zamula.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of creating a ‘child’s route’. Its goal is to simplify the process of obtaining medical, educational, and social services through a comprehensive support system.
A separate area of cooperation will be the creation of the first ‘Recovery house’ in Ukraine – a psychosocial rehabilitation center based at the Lviv Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. Czech partners expressed their readiness to participate in the implementation of this project and the fundraising information campaign.
