Transplant surgeons of St. Panteleimon Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv completed their internship at one of the leading transplant centers of the European Union, specializing in liver transplantation.
New practical experience from the clinic at the Warsaw Medical University was brought by the head of the oncology and oncology department Mykola Zubarev with his colleague Volodymyr Sheptytskyi, as well as surgeon Oleg Guziy.
During the month, Ukrainian doctors studied the work of the department of general surgery, transplantology and liver surgery. It is here that the largest experience in Eastern Europe and an entire school on liver transplantation is concentrated.
“Cooperation with the leading transplantation clinic in Poland gave us an even deeper understanding of all the processes that occur at the stages before and after liver transplantation. Polish experience in this respect is colossal. 2,600 liver transplants have been performed here, and all such operations are already underway. For our Polish colleagues, this is a polished process. We are on this path,” says Mykola Zubarev.
Hospitals participated in multidisciplinary analysis, qualification of patients and directly in transplants; they got acquainted with the coordination process, managing patients before and after liver transplantation, and also mastered the methods of diagnosis and treatment of postoperative complications.
The team of transplant specialists of the First Medical Association of Lviv will continue to study practical experience in the best clinics in the world in order to provide world-class medical care.
“We never stop learning and sharing new experiences with our doctors. We also help our colleagues throughout Ukraine to actively implement transplantology in their institutions. Our goal is that all Ukrainians who are waiting for organs can get them here in Ukraine,” Oleg Guziy explains.
