In Lviv, medical professionals will undergo an online training session organised by the “Dzherelo” Centre to enhance the protection system for children against domestic violence. The event will take place on 20 May in collaboration with the child services and aims to train doctors in recognising signs of abuse.
The training aims to remind participants of the protocols for interaction between medical staff and support services, facilitating the timely involvement of necessary bodies to assist the child. Particular focus is given to the wartime conditions, where societal aggression increases, adversely affecting children.
Participants will become familiar with legislative frameworks, practical approaches, and inter-agency interaction protocols when identifying children in difficult circumstances. Throughout the training, participants will work with cases to identify facts of violence in a child’s environment.
Tetiana Mishchuk, a paediatric neurologist, highlights the importance of recognising hidden issues for timely assistance to children. She states that doctors must know the precise course of action to effectively protect the child.
The event is planned to be extended to employees in the education sector. Lviv continues to work on improving the support system for families with children, developing new services and improving inter-agency cooperation.
