The newly established Oncology Center in Lviv will provide patients with free medications.
In the past two years, the Oncology Center at Lviv’s First Medical Association has treated 3,345 patients, including 204 children. All this time, we have been advocating for what seemed to be a basic necessity — that cancer patients in Lviv receive the required free medications, just like patients in regional oncology centers.
After rigorous but honest communication with the Ministry of Health, we managed to negotiate the launch of a pilot project for the Lviv region. This is an important change. The government will now be able to see the real number of patients on a monthly basis in an online format and will supply them from existing reserves or swiftly reallocate resources between regions.
Previously, everything was calculated based on 2023 statistics, regardless of the current number of sick individuals. Additionally, children treated in the First Medical Association did not receive anything at all. Now there will be more medications — and they will arrive on time.
