Lviv Perinatal Center Receives 1000 Doses of BCG Vaccine

The Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center has received an additional 1000 doses of the BCG vaccine for immunizing newborns.

Each year, about 5,000 babies are born at the center and receive the necessary vaccinations. Exceptions are made only for infants with medical contraindications, who may be vaccinated later. BCG is a live vaccine that trains a child’s immunity against tuberculosis, protecting against severe forms of the disease.

“The center has received an additional 1000 doses of the BCG vaccine to continue ensuring uninterrupted immunization according to the National Vaccination Calendar. A stable stock of vaccines, thanks to dynamic cooperation with the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, allows us to immunize children on time. We have all the necessary equipment and expertise to guarantee the safety of the procedure and the quality of the vaccine, even during power outages,” said the director of the perinatal center, Mariya Malachynska.

Medical professionals emphasize that immunization is important because it protects against dangerous infectious diseases, prevents their spread, and saves millions of lives.
