Almost 40 employees of the Lviv Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine are currently defending Ukraine in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On 27 May, emergency medical workers celebrated their professional holiday. The medics were congratulated by the emergency services in the Lviv region.
“I congratulate you on the Day of Emergency Medical Care. When we talk about your service, we are talking not only about the medical part, but also about the whole process of actions in which you are always the first to act: in providing medical care and responding to crisis situations. It is extremely gratifying that there are so many professional people in the Lviv region who seem to be working in the rear, but through their work they help neighbouring regions respond to the situation in Ukraine. In fact, every citizen is at risk of getting into a situation that requires a quick response every day. I thank our heroes for making it possible for us to gather here today, and I wish you to continue to perform your duties so well, to grow professionally and personally,” said Khrystyna Zamula, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

For reference:
On 27 May, Ukraine marks the Day of Emergency Medical Workers, which is celebrated simultaneously with World Emergency Medical Day.
Emergency medical care is an emergency rescue service and performs tasks of increased complexity and danger on a 24/7 basis. Emergency medical workers are under threat almost around the clock as they respond to emergencies, including road accidents and injuries that pose risks to health and life.
In times of war, the emergency medical service performs an extremely important function, and many emergency medical workers are nominated for state awards. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, about 60 employees of the medical care system of our country have been killed by the terrorist actions of the Russian Federation, and more than five hundred emergency medical vehicles have been destroyed or damaged as a result of hostilities.
