A new magnetic resonance imaging scanner has been put into operation at the Lviv Regional Clinical Diagnostic Centre. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.
The facility receives up to 160,000 patients from across Lviv region every year. Hundreds of cases of oncological diseases are detected here, and patients with complex neurological, cardiological and other pathologies are examined, so timely and high-quality diagnostics are crucial.
The new MRI scanner was purchased as part of the Ukrainian-Polish project “Look inside yourself” under the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine programme. The total value of the project for Lviv region exceeded 1 million euros in European Union grant funding, with a further 9.2 million hryvnias provided from the regional budget.
To commission the scanner, the diagnostic centre dismantled the old equipment, prepared the premises, carried out a series of engineering works, trained staff to operate the new technology and launched the system.
Maksym Kozytskyi thanked partners from Poland’s Mazovian Voivodeship, the Interreg NEXT programme, the Lviv Regional Council, the diagnostic centre team and medical staff, stressing that the scanner is only a tool whose full potential is realised through the work of specialists.
