On Wednesday, 9 October, a training on first aid for burns at home will be held in the session hall of the Lviv City Council. It will be conducted by leading burn specialists from the First Medical Unit of Lviv.
Before the training, media representatives will be able to film in the burn unit of the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital and talk to a young patient. Accreditation for the media is mandatory.
“In the context of war, air danger and possible sudden power cuts, the risk of burns at home has increased significantly. As a result of enemy attacks on civilian infrastructure, Ukrainians suffer mine-blast injuries, each of which is accompanied by a burn. And the use of alternative energy sources, such as gas cylinders, during blackouts also creates additional risks of household burns. Therefore, everyone should know what to do if one of their relatives, neighbours or colleagues suffers such an injury. That is why such educational initiatives are of particular importance today. A reminder of the algorithm of actions in case of burns can save someone’s life,” the First Medical Association of Lviv notes.
Not only city hall employees and deputies will take part in the training at the Lviv City Hall, but Lviv schoolchildren will also learn the basics of first aid for burns. This one-day course will be held as part of the Burn Care Alliance project of the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine.
