
Conflict in Lviv Region Leads to Man’s Injury
In the Lviv region, police are investigating the circumstances of a man’s injury resulting from shots fired from a hunting rifle. Preliminary findings suggest that the victim was shooting at the wheels of a truck and was injured in the leg by a ricochet. The incident occurred during a conflict between him and the truck driver.
Details of the Incident
On April 22, around 10:00 PM in the Sheptytsky district near the village of Lopatin, a verbal dispute between a 58-year-old local resident and the driver of a MAN truck escalated into a conflict, during which the local resident went home and returned with a hunting rifle. He fired two shots at the truck’s wheels, but the pellets ricocheted and hit his leg.
Legal Consequences
Based on the incident, investigators from Police Department No.1 of the Sheptytsky District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office, have initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
Doctors have provided the suspect with medical assistance, and there is no threat to his life. The weapon used in the shooting has been confiscated by law enforcement officers. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
