
On Thursday, 20 August, a city farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for serviceman Mykola Hosovskyi, who gave his life defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join in honouring the defender’s memory and to refrain from entertainment events at this time.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony is planned on Rynok Square. The warrior will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honourable Burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Mykola Hosovskyi was born on 12 September 1984 and was a Lviv native. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 72 and later continued his education at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing, specialising in “Computer Engineering”. After his studies, he worked in the construction sector for private companies.
His family remember Mykola as an exceptionally kind, sincere and sociable person, distinguished by his goodwill, cheerful nature and sensitivity. He was a loving husband and a caring father, devoted much attention to his family and valued the time spent with his loved ones. He was passionate about sport, particularly boxing.
In 2024, Mykola Hosovskyi joined the ranks of Ukraine’s defenders. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the North Slobozhanskyi sector as part of the 156th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later continued his service in the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mykola Hosovskyi was killed on 12 August 2026. He is survived by his wife, four children, parents and other relatives.
