On 30 July, Vladimir Pavlovich Polyanchuk passed away at the age of 83.

Volodymyr Pavlovych Polianchuk was born on 10 April 1943 in the village of Tartakivets, Sokal region.

In 1961, he graduated from the 10th grade of Tartakivtsi secondary school. In 1962, he was drafted into the army. He served for three years as a tanker in the Transcaucasian Military District. He is a reserve officer.

In 1966, he became an assistant to the head of the second department of the Sokal United District Military Commissariat. Later he worked as a sports instructor in Tartakiv.

In 1967, he began his teaching career. He taught at Byshiv, Luchytsia and Bobiatyn secondary schools. They became his home because for 47 years he gave his heart and soul to the students there.
In 1975, he graduated from the History Department of Ivan Franko State University of Lviv by correspondence.

He was one of the most active participants in the national and cultural revival in his native land. In July 1989, he initiated the construction of a monument to Kobzar in Sokal. In 1990-1992, he was the chairman of the district council of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Language Society “Prosvita”.

He was elected to the district council on the NRU list.

From 1999 to 2016, he was the head of the Sokal District Literary and Artistic Association “Kolos”, the editor-in-chief of the almanac “Sokolnyi Krai”, a member of the Ukrainian Writers’ Association.

He was published in the district magazine “Voice from across the Bug”, in the collective collection “Sokal Literary”, almanacs “Prozvesen”, “Sokolnyi Krai”.

He is the author of the poetry collections “I Plant My Garden” (1995) and “Dance of Caryatids” (1999). “Dreaming of Ukraine” is the author’s third collection of poems, which includes works written in different periods…
