On August 6, Lviv community will say goodbye to three defenders of Ukraine

 

On Tuesday, August 6, the Lviv community will say goodbye to three servicemen who died at the hands of Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to pay tribute to the soldiers and join the city’s farewell ceremony, as well as to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony for the defender Ihor Shpek will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 10:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The farewell and funeral of the defender Ivan Vika will begin at 13:00 in the village of Zbyranka at the family home (11 Nova Street). Afterward, the funeral service will be held at the local Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The soldier will be buried at the Holoskiv cemetery.

Another defender of Ukraine will also be buried tomorrow, but at the request of the family, information about this will not be disclosed publicly.

He studied at the Velykyi Hrybovychi Lyceum of the Lviv City Council. After graduation, he entered the Buchach Lyceum named after St. Josaphat in Ternopil region.

He worked at the Fujikura Automotive Ukraine-Lviv Limited Liability Company. He was an extremely religious man, serving in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in his native Zbyranka. According to his family, “he was an extremely kind and polite young man.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, despite his lack of combat experience, he voluntarily defended the state from the Russian invaders. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in Donetsk region as a member of the 31st separate mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ivan Vika is survived by his parents and brother.

He studied at the Ivan Mohylnytskyi Secondary School in the village of Mizhenets. He received the qualification of a television and radio mechanic in Lviv. Subsequently, he served in the military as a squad commander in the artillery in the former Czechoslovakia.

After returning from the service, he first worked at Orbita-Impulse Limited Liability Company, and since 1998 has been engaged in private entrepreneurship in the field of equipment repair services. He was constantly improving his professional skills. In his spare time, he was fond of cycling and football, and was an ardent supporter of the Karpaty club. According to his family, he was “an extremely kind, bright and cheerful person, a good friend and a wonderful family man.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the invaders. After completing the training, he performed combat missions in the Donetsk region as part of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ihor Shpek is survived by his wife, son and sister.
