
On Wednesday, 15th April, Lviv will honour the memory of servicemen Vasyl Huk and Andriy Zalypskyi, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The city council urges residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment activities.
The funeral service will commence at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. Following this, at approximately 11:30, a city-wide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square. Vasyl Huk will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, and Andriy Zalypskyi at Holoskiv Cemetery.
Vasyl Huk (30.06.1976 — 19.01.2024) was a native of Lviv, educated in local schools and at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture. He worked as a kickboxing coach and was a master of sports of Ukraine. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, he joined the defence of the Motherland as part of the 14th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Andriy Zalypskyi (19.10.1975 — 10.04.2026) was also a native of Lviv and worked as a car mechanic. In 2024, he joined the State Special Transport Service, where he guarded important national transport system facilities.
