State awards for the families of fallen border guards

Honoring the Heroic Border Guards Who Gave Their Lives for Ukraine

By decree of the President of Ukraine for personal courage, dedication in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for conscientious and impeccable service to the Ukrainian people in the ranks of the State Border Guard Service, the Order of Courage, 3rd Class (posthumously) was awarded to:

  • soldier Ruslan Mykolayovych Bryansky,
  • senior soldier Roman Ivanovych Harasymiv,
  • soldier Andriy Tarasovych Kurylo.

These heroic border guards gave their lives in the struggle for their native land, remaining faithful to their oath and duty to the very end.

Award Presentation

The state awards to the families of the fallen soldiers were presented by Colonel Serhiy Shapoval, Deputy Head of the 7th Border Detachment for Moral and Psychological Support.

Heroes’ Stories

Ruslan Bryansky died on June 29, 2024, in the Kharkiv region as a result of an explosion on an enemy anti-personnel mine. Roman Harasymiv died on July 8, 2024, also in the Kharkiv region, due to an enemy-dropped munition. Andriy Kurylo sustained fatal explosive injuries on June 21, 2024, in the Kharkiv region. All three border guards served in the rapid response commandant’s office ‘Shkval’ of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment.
