Today, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Taras Zherebetsky

Today, July 21, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Taras Zherebetsky, who died saving his brothers. The funeral will be held in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, the serviceman will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. The City Hall urges you to join the farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertaining events and celebrations during this time.

At 3:00 p.m., the funeral rite will begin in the Garrison Church, and at 3:30 p.m. a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. After that, the funeral procession will go to the Lychakiv cemetery. Blue and yellow flags with a mourning ribbon will be hung on the buildings along the route of the convoy.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Taras Zherebetskyi (September 7, 1987 – July 18, 2022) was born in the city of Chervonohrad, Lviv region. He lived his whole conscious life in Lviv.

He graduated from the Chervonohrad Educational Complex No. 10 of the Chervonohrad City Council. He received his higher education at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing.

An active participant of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity.

With the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, he served in the ranks of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since 2020, he has been the head of the faction of the political party “European Solidarity” in the Lviv District Council.

Senior sergeant. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he defended Ukraine as part of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 391 dated April 4, 2022, he was awarded the Order “For Courage”. Security guard of Luhansk airport.

Died on July 18, 2022, rescuing wounded comrades.

Taras Zherebetsky is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
