Senior Lieutenant Al Shami Fares Nedal was born in 1993 and has lived and studied in Jordan since 1996. When he was sixteen, he moved with his parents to Ukraine, to a permanent place of residence in Rivne. Having successfully passed the entrance exams, he studied at the National University of Water Management and Environmental Sciences.
However, he soon radically changed his plans for the future and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The young man consciously chose the profession of defender of the Fatherland, and since 2014 he has fought bravely in the East of the country, repeatedly encouraged by the command for the professional performance of combat missions. It was at the front that Fares decided to become an officer. To obtain a military profession, he chose to study at the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Peter Sagaidachny. That same year he married a lover named Nadezhda.
He remembered his cadet years with hard work on personal development, thorough study of military affairs. After graduating from Fares High School, he was sent to serve as a platoon commander in the International Peacekeeping and Security Center (OPFOR). Together with his subordinates, the lieutenant has repeatedly participated in numerous international exercises and trainings, which took place at the Center. In August 2020, the platoon he led, along with regular weapons and military equipment, performed training tasks as part of the US Battalion during the multinational exercise “Combined Resolve XIV” at Hohenfels and Grafenwer training centers of the 7th US Army Training Command. which is located in the Federal Republic of Germany. The skilful actions of Ukrainians were highly appreciated by the training management.
Since 2021, Fares has been the commander of a mechanized company marking the actions of the ICMB battalion. High professionalism and leadership qualities were repeatedly encouraged by Senior Lieutenant Al Shami Fares Nedal for his exemplary performance of duties, including in martial law.
After the full-scale invasion of the Russian aggressor, the officer left for the East. On May 12, around 9 pm, the commander of the Al Shami mechanized company, Fares Nedal, came under enemy fire near the village of Rubizhne in the Kharkiv region. An enemy bullet struck the officer on the battlefield. Fares died of his injuries.
The officer is survived by his parents, brother, wife and daughter.
