30-year-old Lviv resident Volodymyr Savelyev, who lost both legs after a mine explosion, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National UNBROKEN Center. After more than a dozen surgeries, he is learning to walk with prosthetics.
Before the war, Volodymyr worked in 3D design and was actively volunteering after it began. In the summer of 2023, he decided to join the army as a combat medic and later became the commander of a reconnaissance platoon. While on a mission in October last year in the Donetsk region, he was severely injured by a mine explosion.
After evacuation and treatment in Dnipro, he was transferred to Lviv, where local surgeons performed nine operations. Currently, Volodymyr is actively involved in physical therapy and learning to use prosthetics. He plans to return to volunteering and may become an assistant instructor in tactical medicine.
