Lviv to Bid Farewell to Four Ukrainian Defenders

On Tuesday, December 17, Lviv will honor the memory of four servicemen: Ivan Voronyi, Vitalii Pilkevych, Volodymyr Vasyliuk, and Timur Asif Ogli Aliyev, who died defending Ukraine. The city council urges residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremonies and refrain from entertainment activities on this day.

Ceremony Schedule

  • Farewell for Ivan Voronyi, Vitalii Pilkevych, and Volodymyr Vasyliuk
    • Begins at 11:00 AM at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul.
    • Around 11:30 AM – Citywide farewell ceremony at Rynok Square.
    • Burial at Lychakiv Cemetery.
  • Farewell for Timur Asif Ogli Aliyev
    • Begins at 2:00 PM at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul.
    • Around 2:30 PM – Citywide farewell ceremony at Rynok Square.
    • Burial at the local cemetery in Pidbirtsi.

Biographies of the Defenders

Volodymyr Vasyliuk (June 25, 1982 – July 9, 2024)

A Lviv native and graduate of School No. 48 and the Lviv Vocational School of Food Technologies. After the Russian invasion, he joined the Territorial Defense and later the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade of the National Guard.
He leaves behind his father, wife, son, sister, and aunt.

Ivan Voronyi (February 7, 1973 – November 13, 2024)

Born in Lishchyn, Lviv region. He served in the military and worked in construction. In September 2024, he joined the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.
He is survived by his wife, two children, and extended family.

Vitalii Pilkevych (May 11, 1982 – December 1, 2024)

A Lviv native and graduate of School No. 48. He served in internal troops and later worked as a sales agent. In 2022, he joined the 13th Operational Brigade “Khartia.”
He leaves behind his brother and relatives.

Timur Asif Ogli Aliyev (May 11, 1988 – December 10, 2024)

A Lviv native and graduate of School No. 35. He worked as a plumber and enjoyed fishing. He served in the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, fighting on multiple frontlines.
He leaves behind his parents, wife, two sons, sister, and brother.

The Lviv City Council urges residents to join the farewell ceremonies and honor the Heroes who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
