On Tuesday, 19 November, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Fedir Surkov, Nazar Moskvytin and Ivan Saletsky, who defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.
The City Hall calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.
The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biographical information about the defenders
Ivan Saletskyi (31.08.1987-15.11.2024). A native of the village of Pidkamin, Lviv region.
He studied at the former secondary school №64 in Lviv. Lviv. He graduated from the Lviv Higher Vocational Art School.
After graduation, he worked as a carpenter and was also engaged in repair work. According to his family, he had a “golden mind” and “golden hands”. He loved animals.
From the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend his homeland from the invaders. He defended the sovereignty and independence of the state in the ranks of the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the regional directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, he served in the 540th anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi Lviv Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivan Saletskyi is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.
Nazariy Moskvytyn (26.05.1985-12.11.2024). A resident of Lviv.
He studied at the secondary school № 31 in Lviv. Lviv. He received a degree in car repair at Vocational School No. 53.
For many years, he worked as a sales manager at Ukrryba, a private enterprise. He was fond of cinema.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine on the eastern frontline as a member of the 47th separate mechanised brigade “Magura” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Nazariy Moskvytin is survived by his mother and brother.
Fedir Surkov (03.08.1972-15.11.2024). A resident of Lviv.
He studied at the former secondary school No. 35. Later he received vocational education in Lviv. After completing his studies, he served in the border guards.
In recent years, he was a private entrepreneur, producing embroidered clothing. In his spare time, he was fond of radio electronics, read a lot and travelled.
From the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the occupiers. He performed combat missions in the ranks of the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the regional directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later served in the 540th anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi Lviv Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Fedir Surkov is survived by his wife, son and brother.
