Opening of the Renovated St. George’s Church in Drohobych

Today in Drohobych marks an important historical moment related to the restoration of spiritual heritage. The renovated St. George’s Church opens its doors for communal prayer following the restoration of its ancient iconostasis, a process that took four years. The consecration and liturgy will be conducted by the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Blessed Sviatoslav Shevchuk.

Delegations from abroad have arrived for this event, as well as representatives of sister cities and partner organizations supporting Ukraine and the Drohobych community.

Despite the challenging conditions of wartime, this event has been made possible thanks to the heroism of Ukrainian defenders who protect our freedom and territories. Ukrainians preserve not only borders, but also their cultural and spiritual heritage.

The morning in Drohobych began with honoring the memory of fallen heroes – community leaders, along with guests, laid flowers at the Memorial Alley and observed a moment of silence for those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
